“We are working to make a common decision, with the three lists that supported me. We are in continuous plenary meetings, in order to give our electorate a common position, as soon as possible, to go and vote in the run-off.”
They are the words of Fulvio Fellegaracandidate for mayor in the first round with the centre-left lists (Democratic Party, Generazione Sanremo and Progetto Comune) one week before the vote which will have to establish whether, in the seat of mayor Gianni Rolando or Alessandro Mager will have to sit in Palazzo Bellevue.
Meanwhile, from today Sanremo has one certainty: there can be no comparison, given that the deadline for submitting it expired yesterday evening. In recent days, among the many meetings that the center-left held to decide what to do for the run-off, the possibility had never emerged that some list could break away and choose for the alliance. Bad voices that were circulating claimed that it could be implemented, by one or the other list in support of Fellegara.
Another one certainty what emerges is the one that has been aired several times in recent days, namely that the decision that will be taken will be a coalition one. That is, it will be decided uniquely among the three lists what to indicate to that one 20% of voters who chose Fulvio Fellegara and the center-left in the first round. It’s about 5,000 votes which could tip the balance one way or the other. Twenty years ago Gianni Rolando was a centre-right candidate against Claudio Borea and started with an advantage of 1,500 votes from the first round. Now he has it 2,500 more.
What will they decide in the meetings that are taking place and will continue in the next few hours? It’s impossible to get a preview from Fellegara himself and the top of the three lists. From indiscretions leaked in the last few hours, the idea of Progetto Comune which would like to give a blank ballot to its voters remains clear while the possibility of choice for the other two lists seems softer.
What will Generation Sanremo and Pd decide? Within the Democratic Party there is still burning disappointment (and also a bit of anger) over the departure of several exponents now in ‘Sanremo al Centro’, which caused the party to be absent from administration for many months. It is difficult to understand, therefore, whether the Democratic Party does will deploy with Mager or will instruct voters to leave their ballots blank. There are also those who maintain that many exponents of the PD have already voted Mager in the first round with the ‘split’.
Slightly different situation for Sanremo Generation, which does not have an administrative past like the PD and which could decide differently. Precisely for this reason it seems that the different ‘souls’ of the coalition of Fulvio Fellegara have different opinions. It will be up to the leader to intervene to find a univocal position to submit to the voters.
At the moment there isn’t one ‘deadline’ immediately on the decision to be made. The meetings follow one another hour by hour and it is not excluded that a definitive choice could be made by tomorrow.
