PERUGIA – If it is true that there are no ties in view of the ballot on 8 and 9 June for the conquest of Palazzo dei Priori and that Perugia Deserves is not taking sides, today Massimo Monni – one of the 5 candidates for mayor – takes a position: «I vote Ferdinandi”.
The centre-left candidate therefore receives the vote of the leader of Perugia. She deserves, but also his compliments on the «genuineness and qualities that I recognize in her. She is intelligent and balanced, Perugia needs a person like her.” Monni also explained how Margherita Scoccia had proposed him a role as deputy mayor, but that he preferred – while giving freedom to his people – to support the other candidate: «Ferdinandi didn’t want to buy me – she said -, this means a lot to me. I respect Scoccia but I know that she will not be free.” And again, freely: «Perugia must be administered with common sense. I have received threats to remove my salute if I supported one rather than the other. I’m anti-communist, you know, but these choices are made for the good of the city. I appreciated Margherita, she’s a good girl, but we’ve already had good guys. Perugia is a free city without external influences.”
A joke also about the next autumn election: «Our political project continues: it is a political experience to be developed for the regional elections. The Tesei council is more embarrassing than that of Romizi.” Although Monni underlined that it is a project that will not directly concern him.
At the meeting promoted by Monni, among others, Donatella Porzi, Massimo Gnagnarini (Italia Viva) and also the deputy mayor Gianluca Tuteri, candidate with Scoccia but present “out of friendship, we have been friends for 60 years”, were also present.
