Incredible! At the G7 in Puglia the English Prime Minister Sunak arrives on the Fiat Panda… with Latina license plate – Il Caffe

Latin it was a protagonist at the G7 with all the world leaders, including Pope Francis, which took place in Puglia, thanks to a Fiat Panda and the English Prime Minister Sunak.

The event took place in Borgo Egnazia, an ultra-luxury resort in Savelletri, to discuss economics and international balances.

Among the various heads of state and government, there was naturally also the British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Perhaps to express classic English humor or perhaps thinking of paying homage to the nation that hosted him, Sunak arrived at the large and heavily armored resort on board a Fiat Panda cabrio, brown, from 1981.

The incredible thing is that the Panda was so old that it still had the old license plate indicating the province of registration. AND Sunak’s number plate was LT 423672. Yes, the license plate was indeed LATINA!

Naturally it wasn’t Sunak who was driving the Panda, also because he was used to right-hand driving and might have had some difficulty getting used to continental left-hand driving.

The Latina Panda, symbol of Puglia

The brown Panda branded Latina seems to have become the symbol of Puglia. In fact, it is enough to enter the license plate number to discover that what is today one of the automotive symbols of the 1980s is often used to promote the Puglia region.

As in the case of Gabriella Khalil, a famous English manager with thirty thousand followers who was immortalized in recent months in Puglia, always on board that same Fiat Panda with Latina license plates.

If the police stopped them they had to fine them!

A curiosity. We carried out a check with the iPatente app managed by the Civil Motorisation. Through this app you can check the regularity of any vehicle by entering the license plate number.

Well, with great surprise we discovered that the Panda with license plate LT 423672 does not appear to have normal RCA insurance coverage, mandatory on Italian territory. In short, Sunak was in an uninsured car. And if there was an accident, who would pay for the damages to the UK?

Sunak and all the occupants of the Panda regularly wore seat belts, but if the police had stopped them and asked for the classic “License and registration document”, they would still have had to fine them and seize the vehicle.

Of course it’s just a joke. Certainly the car will have had its insurance, and the fact that this is not shown on the DMV app could have various reasons.

Fiat Panda or Mini minor?

Sunak certainly wanted to show up at the G7 driving a Panda to pay homage to Italy.

After all, the equivalent in his country is the Mini minor, a car symbol of an era, also immortalized by the comic skits of Mr. Bean, who drives a green Mini minor in the most bizarre ways.

Fiat Panda an endless success

Even today the Fiat Panda represents a symbol of Made in Italy.

Presented for the first time in 1980, in a very complex period for the Turin giant, it proved to be a truly successful machine that drove the brand’s sales until 2003, in its original guise. Subsequently, two further generations followed, with the third still leading the Italian market.
