TREVISO – Treviso is preparing to give the last farewell to Ovidio Gobbofor more than thirty years soul of the tavern from Gigia of via Barberia, who died on Saturday in 76 years old. Ovidio sadly leaves his wife Margherita, his daughters Lorenza and Martina, his sons-in-law and his grandchildren. As well as an entire city.
It was in fact a iconic character, known by all, which leaves a great void. Together with his longtime partner and colleague, Sandro Valiera, he had decided to go to pension in August 2019, choosing not to sell the business but to hand it over to younger people.
Since then “La Gigia”, thanks to the imprint left by Ovidio and Sandro, has continued to exist point of reference for the people of Treviso, which still compares it to the couple of innkeepers who created it from scratch and made it much more than a tavern, and much more than a simple corner of Treviso where you can enjoy a mozza and a citron. “Ovidio is no longer physically with us but the smiles, the jokes and the great affection will remain” his daughter Martina wrote in a post on Facebook announcing the passing of her father.
