“At least three medical vehicles per area” – ekuonews.it

TERAMO – “The problem of the absence of doctors on ambulances at a national level is already quite well known and will certainly require some time to resolve due to a lack of planning, which has been lacking for years. Even the province of Teramo is not free from this critical situation and the current distribution of ambulances in the area tries to make up for, at least in part, the absence of a doctor on board while guaranteeing limited assistance with the presence of an emergency nurse who to guarantee quality assistance” declares Stefano Matteucci Provincial Secretary of UGL Salute Teramo in a note. “As a union we have repeatedly brought to the attention of the strategic management of the ASL the need to strengthen the medical presence, widespreading the use of three medical cars, i.e. fast vehicles: one for the coastal area, one on the state road 150 and the third in Teramo with the use of the station doctor with dual function. The lack of training for technical staff and the lack of information to the population on the testing of the Single Emergency Number 112 must be a problem to be solved in the short term. The internalisation of the service – continues the trade unionist – is another battle that would allow us to have more nurses on company ambulances, capable of being used in stations currently managed by third parties. To date, we have learned that the ASL company has planned the purchase of “Lucas III” automatic massagers for ambulances in the area, a choice that can be agreed with but which at the same time is worrying for the possible late modernization and planned replacement of the fleet of vehicles” he concludes Matteucci.
