Florence, 16 June 2024 – A project by accessible dance also to the blind and deaf public, a performance to break the alienation of everyday life and a participatory homage to the Isolotto neighborhood for its 70 years. The third appointment with “Poetry in the city”, in Florence the festival of words, music and performance which this year has reached its tenth edition, curated by Versiliadanza with the direction of Angela Torriani Evangelisti. “Love and other words”, this is the theme that connects the initiatives scheduled until September: shows, readings, concerts and DJ sets in an ideal homage to Ernesto Balducci and his vision of a culture of peace. Appointment Tuesday June 18th at BiblioteCaNova (via Chiusi), for a program that will open at 5.00 pm with “Pornodrama-trio”, a work by and with Giuseppe Comuniello and Camilla Guarino also accessible to blind, visually impaired and deaf people. We continue with “Oscure Luminescenze” by Asmed/ Balletto di Sardegna: an investigation that arises from the urgency of moving away from comfort zones to swim in the open sea and to graze unknown coasts. Conclusion with “Isolotto mon amour #70”, a work that comes to the end of a participatory journey conducted by Versiliadanza with local citizens. “Poetry in the city” enjoys the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Tuscany Region, the Municipality of Florence as part of the Florentine Estate in collaboration with the Florence Municipal Library System, the Teatro Cantiere Florida, the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte, the Gada Space (entrance free with reservation recommended).

Going into detail about the individual shows the “Pornodrama-trio” project is an intimate dance made of bodies and words, a further step in the work that the dancer and choreographer Giuseppe Comuniello and the dancer and playwright Camilla Guarino have been carrying out since 2018 to make the performing arts accessible. In addition to being accessible to blind people thanks to the poetic audio description – artistic creation parallel to the show on stage, audible in headphones – thanks to the LIS interpreter Sara Pranovi, included as an artist in the show, “Pornodrama-trio” will also be accessible to deaf people . Following this, Asmed/ Balletto di Sardegna will propose with “Oscure Luminescenze” a vision of life in the modern world, where we quickly become links in a system from which, however, from time to time, life calls us back to disorder, leading us to glimpse new unexpected destinations in a design perhaps similar to the one imagined by Balducci in “The Planetary Man”. Finally, “Isolotto mon amour #70”, a declaration of love for the Florentine neighborhood which crowns the path of education in reading and movement carried out by Versiliadanza – and specifically by Gianluigi Tosto and Angela Torriani Evangelisti respectively – with the over 65 inhabitants of the territory, following the words of Natalia Ginzburg. Founded in 1993, Versiliadanza has resided permanently at the Teatro Cantiere Florida since 2012 and brings together artistic personalities to implement the diffusion of dance art through the production of shows, choreographic research with different styles and fields, the organization of related events to dance and contemporary art. Over the years the Company has hosted and collaborated with world-famous artists such as Antonio Tabucchi, Susanne Linke, Urs Dietrich, Bob Wilson, Luciana Savignano, Paco Decina, Igor Mitoraj and structures such as the La Versiliana festival, the Andrej Tarkovskij International Institute, Fabbrica Europe, Rencontres Chorégraphiques Internationales de Bagnolet Seine Saint Denis, Small Theatre/NCA and Embassy of Italy in Yerevan (Armenia). The company’s proposal includes inclusive performances, created by artists with and without disabilities, who work together within a multidisciplinary training and creative process aimed at developing a highly usable artistic language. The main objectives are training, audience development and international mobility of artists and organizations, aims which are pursued through workshops, international laboratories, creative residencies and shows.
