URBINO – Towards the run-off, Scaramucci and Crespini join forces.
The outgoing mayor Maurizio Gambini he settled at 47.96% with 4052 votes while Federico Scaramucci stopped at 44.73% with 3779 and Maria Crespini at 7.30%. 50% has not been reached and there will be a run-off on 23 and 24 June.
Scaramucci underlines the agreement with Crespini: «Healthcare, young people, tourism: a pact to make Urbino a protagonist again. After a meticulous discussion, we have agreed on an administrative agenda to project Urbino into the future, with the attention due to the care of all the components of the Municipality and finally with a rational planning on the most important issues for the territory. In this electoral campaign we were able to listen daily to the problems and desire for change of our fellow citizens, so we found ourselves in agreement in integrating our programs to relaunch the city, which after 10 years has no ambitious project. A project that already in the first 100 days will give a turning point to the setting of policies in the city, an exercise ignored for too long by the administration which has reached the end of the line. Unfortunately, the results of that work are clearly visible: a right to health that is struggling, young people leaving the city that does not offer them opportunities, the Municipality that does not invest in the links that would immediately give them wealth, such as the one with the university . Quality public healthcare, breaking the isolation of the city, shared and participatory administration, numerous incentives for young citizens and the return of tourism as the prime mover of Urbino’s economy and resources. We both work in the tourism and event organization sector, we know the city’s potential well and this is why we are so passionate about wanting to see it again as a protagonist in Italy and around the world. We made a programmatic pact, talking about politics, projects and what we could do together – loyally – for Urbino. Now all we have to do is ask for the trust of the Urbinati one last time to carry it forward. The old mayor asks the people of Urbino to make history, we reassure him: he is already history, but an old story. The city can only be changed with new ideas, together, with the fundamental contribution of its citizens united for the future.”
On the other hand, the outgoing mayor Gambini speaks of a «relationship decided some time ago. A film already seen.” And he renews the idea that «Urbino as the capital changes everything. The new province of Urbino is destined to attract resources and infrastructure. We want to count more and make history.”
