AIS Caserta delivers diplomas to 50 new sommeliers

Caserta. Every year in Italy job opportunities in the world of wine multiply. In fact, more and more women and men are deciding to immerse themselves in a thriving market with enormous business potential.

From wine bloggers to brand ambassadors, through to waitstaff or wine experts in a wine shop. These are some of the roles that fall within the specializations that a professional sommelier can achieve, a figure that is increasingly establishing itself in the contemporary job market. Through the courses of the AIS (Italian Sommelier Association) from the beginning of the 2023/2024 academic year to today, over 5 thousand people have obtained the sommelier diploma in Italy. A very important figure which sees a marked increase in trend (+10%) compared to last year.

In Campania, 440 new sommeliers have obtained their diplomas up to June 2024, 50 in the province of Caserta alone. Very important numbers that show the great interest around a sector that cannot be underestimated.

And it was in the city in the shadow of the Royal Palace that the diploma award ceremony for the new sommeliers from Caserta took place on 13 June. The AIS Caserta event was held on the splendid terrace of the Leucio restaurant in Caserta in the presence of the AIS Caserta provincial delegate Pietro Iadicicco and all the members of the delegation council.

After illustrating the current academic year and the numerous AIS events that affect the entire province of Terra di Lavoro while tasting gin and tonic, the tasting stands were opened with the presentation of some very interesting projects such as the “Sommelier mixologist” (partner Dovel Import) and the Bufala & Wine in Love of the Consortium for the Protection of Campania DOP buffalo mozzarella (with the tasting of mozzarella paired with wines from the 22 wine-growing regions in Italy). Very interesting and appreciated by those present was the tasting table of the new “Ager Asprinio” Consortium which, with the “Più o meno Dieci” project, sank a sparkling wine from Asprinio from Alberata in the port of Baia (vinified with the classic method with subsequent refinement in Fondo al Mare) with the aim of enhancing a wine that is an expression of history, wine culture and innovation.

The spotlight will also be on the wines of the Pagano family, with the tasting of Fiano di Avellino and Greco di Tufo, those of the Cantina Alois (Pallagrello bianco Caiatì) and the Cantina San Marzano with the Rosato da Primitivo, as well as a vast range of wines from national and international territory. A pleasant evening, full of good wine and excellent food, very useful for discussing and sharing training experiences for future professionals in the sector.
