It will take place on June 21st and 22nd, in Reggio Calabriathe intermediate stage of the 2024 Proximity Biennial, an important event held every two years in a different Italian city – this year it’s Naples – which gives voice to the most important proximity experiences.
By proximity we mean the ability of people and organizations to cooperate together to respond to shared aspirations and needs, acting with reciprocity, in an always open process based on relationships, exchange and participation. Precisely with a view to giving importance to this process, the Biennale has always included events leading up to the national event and Reggio Calabria will be an intermediate stage.
The local promoting committee, made up of the territorial branches of the national committee – Consorzio Emmanuel, CNCA – National Coordination of the Reception Community, Legacoopsociali and Legambiente – and the Macramè Consortium, organized two days full of events, thanks to the support of the Carical Foundation and with the patronage of the Metropolitan City and the Municipality of Reggio Calabria.
The theme chosen for this edition, that of regenerationwas associated with participation and divided into four macro themes corresponding to four discussion panels which will be dedicated to community development, mutual systems for new models of care, common goods, innovative educational processes. The event was constructed collectively, welcoming requests and proposals from the organizations that took part in meetings and preparatory meetings.
The ribbon cutting will be Friday June 21st, at 4.30 pm, at Ecolandia Parkwith a poetic overture which celebrates Taurianova as the Italian Book Capital, in collaboration with Città del Sole Edizioni, to continue with the confiscated property located inside the Park, with the first two discussion panels, with the participation also of the representatives of the national promoting committee. The day will end with two live music concerts by Augusto Favaloro and Pasquale Campolo and by Killing Cartisano, an artistic project by singer-songwriter Roberta Cartisano.
On the day of June 22nd, from 9.30amthe works of the Biennale will take place at Reuse Center of the Roma social cooperative 1995for the last two discussion panels, which will take place at the same time Work Workshops 2, a regeneration laboratory which will see the participation of the children of the “Don Italo Calabrò” Youth Center. The conclusions of the Biennial will be at Proximity health center of the ACE – Solidarity Medicine associationin the heart of the neighborhood ClayWhere at 8.30pm there will be an outdoor screening of the film A world apartby director Riccardo Milani, a comedy that tells the story of the attempt of the protagonist, played by Antonio Albanese, to save a small village school, a metaphor for remainder by Vito Teti which we hope will give strength and light to the communities.
