Where is respect for the laws? This is what some citizens and some operators in the sector are asking following the failure to apply municipal resolution 188/2024, with which the Municipality of Turin di Sangro (Ch), last March 25th, placed the “ban on the continuation of ‘activity” and “removal of all the effects produced by the commercial practice”, present in a campsite managed by an Srls (simplified limited liability company), in the Palude district.
The tourist facility continues to be inhabited, as if nothing had happened, and many of the bungalows inside are rented out for holidays to Italian and foreign families. The provision, issued by Maurizio Aquilano, head of the administrative sector of the Municipality of Turin di Sangro, has thus far remained on paper, despite having been sent to the judiciary, the Abruzzo Region and other bodies, with a series of irregularities, which justify the reasons why it was decided.
Among these, the absence of escape routes and the related indicative signs; or the housing units, which according to the Municipality do not present the characteristics envisaged in the technical reports attached to the building practices in the documents of the Municipal Technical Office. In other words, there are discrepancies with the documentation relating to the Certified Report of commencement of activity (SCIA). So much so that for this last aspect, the legal representative of the company, LL, together with the surveyor who drew up the documentation, was sent to trial for false certification and failure to comply with current legislation on urban planning and construction, as well as for the intended use of the tourist accommodation facility. Furthermore, the area on which the village stands is crossed by a sheep track, which is only permitted for grazing or agricultural cultivation, but in this case it is used by the disputed activity.
A paradoxical situation, which takes place on the Costa dei Trabocchi (Ch), along which irregular kiosks have already been removed and seized between Rocca San Giovanni (Ch) and Fossacesia (Ch) following a complaint presented to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Lanciano . And a short distance away, in the municipality of Casalbordino, Villaggio Macondo, due to the same complaints raised against the Srls itself, has been closed for several years.
A disparity in treatment that is incomprehensible to many, despite the fact that, in the case of Torino di Sangro (Ch), there have been successive inspections by the police, including the Carabinieri, with abuses detected and reported to the Prosecutor’s Office of Vasto (Ch). June 17. 2024
