Ilyas, 18 months old, was risking his life due to serious respiratory problems. The mother, in a panic, stopped a police car while she ran scared down the street with her baby in her arms, now lifeless. There was no time to waste and the officers, seeing a medical vehicle passing by, requested immediate medical assistance.
Joseph And Fabio of the police station of Acireale (Catania) and the volunteers of the Italian Red Cross, with perfect teamwork, managed to quickly take him to hospital where Ilyas was rescued and was able to breathe again.
The next day, the two policemen returned to the hospital to visit him and, between a smile and a hug, they were able to breathe a sigh of relief when they saw the child smiling again.
