The washing and sanitizing operations of the paving along the porticoes of Cuneo started on Thursday morning at dawn – from Piazza Galimberti. The new CEC urban waste collection contract, awarded by San Germano Spa (Iren group), in addition to providing for mechanized and manual sweeping along the streets, includes four interventions a year along the porticoes, in order to guarantee urban decorum and protect the image of the city.
“In the awarding of the new contract – explains the Environment Councilor, Gianfranco Demichelis – it was decided to implement the steps along the main axis, investing in what is Cuneo’s business card for those arriving from outside. Previously the extraordinary washing was carried out twice a year, now we have doubled it”.
Cleaning is carried out using 100% electric equipment: a high-pressure washer or walk-behind sweeper to soften and remove the most resistant stains, as well as a washer-dryer with a sanitizing effect.
The collaboration of all the activities that revolve around the porticoes and of their owners is therefore required, both to maintain the constant cleaning of the porticoes (as required by the Urban Police regulation) and to possibly free the affected areas from clutter as much as possible. It is estimated that the intervention, which began on the morning of June 6, can be completely completed in about a month.
