“Woe to the vanquished”. Historical phrase from ancient Roman times, which essentially indicates the prevalence of force (that of political power) over law (that of citizens). The adaptation of the meaning is ours.
The electoral data are of little interest to the “losers”, other than that relating to abstention, now the majority party.
At a local level “the vanquished” (the citizens) will continue, absolutely through no fault of the current municipal administration alone, to wait to be able to use a series of structures which are still unusable for the most disparate reasons, from the municipal swimming pool to the Fornaci Centre, from theater at the covered market. They will continue to wait for the disappearance of the Bailey bridge, news of the reclamation of not one but two waste landfills, to understand whether the “Pinqua” will bring more greenery or concrete to the city (the citizens will then see it with their own eyes), to be able use a municipal kindergarten or the subway in the city with the three stations planned for the landfill (maybe it will be for next year, maybe…). All this, while a political conflict has been taking place for some time now between the Mayor and the President of the City Council which will have to be resolved in one way (reconciliation) or another (replacement of the President), since it is unthinkable that the city can suffer it for these approximately two remaining years.
Last but not least, there is healthcare with its long waiting lists, about which there is a lot of talk but little is done, and with the Bonomo hospital which on the pediatrics floor is in difficulty due to a simple renovation (elsewhere they built a small hospital at the same time), up to the now famous new 400-bed second level provincial hospital in Andria, for which there seems to be an ongoing desire/need to review the design to review the costs. In our opinion, no longer just eliminating the superfluous, if we can speak of superfluous for a hospital, but also restricting the essential. Therefore a new provincial hospital reduced to a “hospital” to fit within the available sums, always the same while elsewhere rivers of money arrive to do things even if they are not priorities for people’s health. All this derives, in our opinion, from the preponderant strength of the politicians of the neighboring cities over our own ones, at all levels. The fact remains that, although the city has been relegated, at a health level, to being the “Cinderella” compared to others, the President of the Region and regional health councilor Emiliano came to the city, he did not justify himself at all on the issues ” Bonomo hospital and new hospital” and was also rewarded by a fair amount of support in favor of his political party.
What can I say, we wrote it at the beginning, “woe to the vanquished”, and since the majority of citizens, by abstaining, have decided that a minority should decide for them, for their children and grandchildren, that’s okay, or maybe not. !
