Morning. Murder in Mattinata in the early afternoon. The victim is Bartolomeo Pio Notarangelo, aged 36, shot dead. The ambush took place in the Tagliata area.
The events occurred around 3.20pm. All help was useless. Air ambulance and Carabinieri on site.
Bartolomeo Pio Notarangelo, 36 years old, native of San Giovanni Rotondo, resident in Vieste, is the cousin of Angelo Notarangelo, “cintaridd” (boss of the Gargano mafia, shot dead on the morning of 26 January 2015 in the Gattarella area. Angelo Notarangelo represented the central actor in the Middle Ages and Three Musketeers mafia trials). Another cousin of Bartolomeo Pio Notarangelo is Giambattista Notarangelo, murdered in 2018.
Instead, Bartolomeo Pio Notarangelo, victim of this afternoon’s deadly ambush, appears related to the “Baffino” of Mattinata. Reference is made to Antonio and Andrea Quitadamo, current collaborators of justice. Notarangelo was the brother-in-law of Andrea “Baffino”, the youngest of his brothers.
The deadly ambush took place between Mattinata and Vieste, precisely in the locality “San Martino Tagliata“, same area where almost a year ago (18 July 2023) Bartolomeo La Pomarda, 28 years old (born in 1995), originally from Mattinata, was the victim of a murder. There appears to be no connection between the two ambushes.

Bartolo Notarangelo had no other pending trials at the time. He was sentenced in 2021 to two years and 8 months for drugs. The man was legally followed by the lawyer Salvatore Vescera of the Foggia bar.
From data collection, ewas arrested in flagrante delicto last 21 October 2019 by the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of the Provincial Command of Foggia on charges of possession of narcotic substances; already known to the police, “had been found in possession of a kilo of cocaine and over 20,000 euros in cash after a drug control performed in Manfredonia”.
A few months earlier, in March 2019, the Court of Foggia had acquitted Bartolomeo Pio Notarangelo with two others of various charges of possession of weapons and cocaine. “The fact does not exist”. Notarangelo with two others were arrested in 2016 by the carabinieri of the Vico del Gargano company during an operation to combat the affairs of the Notarangelo family, once led by Angelo “cintaridd” Notarangelo, who was killed in January 2015.
“The cousins Bartolomeo and Danilo Notarangelo, relatives of the deceased clan head, together with Calabrese, according to the prosecution they were the dealers of various pushers in the Vieste area.
