Cosenza, sentenced to 11 years for private and sexual violence

Salvatore P., a sixty-two year old from Cosenza, was sentenced to eleven years and four months in prison for crimes of mistreatment, threats, private violence and continuous sexual violence. The sentence, issued on June 13, was pronounced by judge Letizia Benigno. His 51-year-old partner was the offended party in the trial.

The crimes alleged against Salvatore P. would have occurred between the end of 2023 and the following year. According to the victim’s account, the man subjected her to insults, death threats and obsessive behavior. Furthermore, the sexual violence occurred in the same period, preceded by the forced administration of alcohol. These episodes were deemed proven during the trial.

Even after the separation, Salvatore P. continued to torment the woman with incessant calls and messages. On some occasions, he would show up at his house, damaging his car and the front door. Following the woman’s complaint, the police arrested the man, who remains detained.

The sentence was handed down at first instance and Salvatore P. chose the abbreviated trial, which reduced the sentence compared to what could have been more severe. The legal matter will continue on appeal. The lawyer Mario Stella represents the civil party in the trial.
