for 50% of Italians Giorgia Meloni emerges strengthened

According to 50% of Italians, Giorgia Meloni is strengthened by the result of the European elections, which saw FdI as the first party at 28.7%. Even Elly Schlein’s Dems (who emerged stronger from the polls according to 29% of those interviewed) have increased consensus in their favor, narrowing the gap with the prime minister’s party.

Fratelli d’Italia and the Democratic Party received over half of the valid votes cast in the European elections, precisely 53%. It is the return of bipolarism, writes the pollster Nando Pagnoncelli, who in the Corriere della Sera examines and analyzes the perception of Italians on the vote of last 8 and 9 June. According to 50% of those interviewed Giorgia Meloni is strengthened by the result of the elections, which saw Fratelli d’Italia as the first party at 28.7%, a higher percentage than that obtained in the 2022 political session. At the same time, the Dems of Elly Schlein (which emerges strengthened at the polls according to 29% of those interviewed) have increased the consensus in their favor, narrowing the gap with the prime minister’s party to just four points.

In our country, the victory goes, in the evaluation of the interviewees, first and foremost to Giorgia Meloni, recordwoman of preferences, who was able to improve the performance of her team also compared to the data of the political elections (the minimum bar of acceptable consensus). She thinks exactly that half of Italians. In second place, although far behind, Elly Schlein, who was awarded the victory by almost 30% of Italians, confirming the “bipolarity” we were talking about“, writes Pagnoncelli. To then specify that in any case this bipolarism “a result of the choices of voters rather than of politics, although aided by the polarization produced by the choices of the leaders of the two main parties who wanted to identify each other as a competitor“.

In any case, according to 56% of voters after the vote in Europe the centre-right government will be more cohesive, despite none of the other majority political forces having managed to exceed 10%. Forza Italia it stopped at 9.5 and for just 9% of those interviewed its leader, Antonio Tajani, strengthened his position thanks to the vote on 8 and 9 June. Things are even worse for the Leaguearrived at the polls with 8.9%: for only 5% of those interviewed Matteo Salvini emerged stronger from the vote.
