Reggio Emilia, 16 June 2024 – Three boys remained wounded during a furious brawl between groups of young people. The turmoil broke out the other night at Lido Po di Borettowhen leaving a room.
One of the attacked had a stab wound to the arm, perhaps caused by a broken bottle. The other two were beaten with kicks and punches, so much so that he had to resort to hospital treatment. A fourth – as far as it was possible to know – escaped with some bruises.
During the melee someone, in the night, has fired some shots with a stun gun: the carabinieri recovered the cartridge case of a blank weapon on the ground.
The alarm at the 118 Emilia Ovest operations center went off around 3. Ambulances from Castelnovo Sotto, Guastalla and Sorbolo arrived on site – a meeting place which attracts hundreds of young people from all over the Bassa, especially at weekends – as well as medical vehicles and several police patrols.
A real mobilization. The soldiers arrived not only from Boretto, but also from Guastalla, Luzzara and Cadelbosco Sopra. Upon their arrival, the group of attackers had already evaporated. The injured remained on site, all very young – between seventeen and twenty years old – of Guastalla and Poviglio.
In the end, three of these were taken to the Guastalla hospital for various traumas. One of them, a twenty-year-old resident of Guastalla, reported a cut on his arm.
There were other boys involved in the brawl traced in the nearby center of Boretto, in particular in via Roma; they had moved away from the Po beach in total confusion.
Now it will be up to the police to collect the testimonies of those present to reconstruct what happened, try to understand it the motivations and – above all – giving a face and a name to those responsible of the violence disappeared in the dark of the night.
