Adamo celebrates in the rediscovered XCO Città di Modica-Cyclò. The holding of the XCO Città di Modica-Cyclò in mid-June could be considered a real experiment. The classic Ragusan event, normally the scene of the beginning of the season for Sicilian enthusiasts, had to emigrate over time, in order not to miss an edition that would have represented an unexpected stop in its history. The bikers showed that they appreciated the return of the race even if clearly in this period the commitments for many have become fewer. The Modica (RG) test, included in the Sicily XCO Cup and the Jonica Mtb Cup, nevertheless gathered a large number of participants on a very hot day, which however did not slow down the enthusiasm of not only local bikers.
The was distinguished in two starts. The main one, which brought together the absolute and amateur categories, involved bikers on 4 laps of the 4.3 km by 180 meter route. The winner was Lorenzo Adamo (Nonsolobike) who in 1h05’58” prevailed by 42″ over Gaspare Federico Di Girolamo (Finestrelle Bikers), third place overall for Samuele Maria D’Angelo (Probike Erice) at 1’11”. Among the women, first, like last year, was Federica Occhipinti (Team Race Mountain) in 2h24’48”, keeping her company on the podium, one lap behind, Sofia Eliotropio Filippi (Probike Erice) and Chiara Vitello (Racing Team Agrigento).

The success of the event, demonstrated by many positive reviews from the participants combined with the promise to return next year, was the result of the support received from Libertas, Csain Ciclismo and the Municipality of Modica. Many were involved in the management of the route and the services linked to the race, however ready to regain possession of its winter period next season, weather permitting…
