“Institutions and respect. Politics regains its noble role”

“A new way of doing politics and a different language is really necessary. The electoral campaign that has just ended and the serious consequences of the following days, which have once again led our city to inglorious

on the national pages of some newspapers, make even more evident the need for a new way of doing politics, for a different language and for behavior that respects people and institutions. I don’t know, frankly, how anyone, especially an outgoing councilor (for culture!) could come up with the idea of calling a political opponent to mock him on the day of defeat. This would be enough to denounce the lack of sense of the institutions, but as we know there was more: a vulgar and sexist expression in the background, which could even have been uttered by the First Citizen to the lawyer Anselmo and then a second, probably addressed to Senator Ilaria Cucchi. I would like to express my solidarity with both of you. It is not the first time in recent months that we have witnessed verbally aggressive expressions. The insults from the deputy mayor of Lodi to a journalist from a local newspaper are from a few weeks ago. Events that are serious regardless. Even more serious because they come from figures who hold an institutional role. We as the Municipality of Ferrara in recent months have repeatedly underlined the need for politics to return to occupying the noble role it deserves, starting from its exponents who must be credible witnesses of respect for the institutions and even before that of the dignity of people”.
