ORtoday after the race Alvaro Bautista was well aware of the problems that emerged on his bike over the Misano weekend. With great humility he admitted that he has not yet found a solution that allows him to rediscover that feeling with the V4R which allowed him to become world champion in 2022 and 2023. It’s difficult to make a comparison with Razgatlioglu. “At the moment I don’t make comparisons with Toprak and his BMW. I am not interested. Now what matters is reaching 100% of our potential.”

Absolutely. I still don’t feel as good as I would like with the bike. During these three days we made more changes to the setting than we did in the whole of 2023. We will be in a difficult situation until I can ride the Ducati the way I like it. Our level has remained the same, while that of our opponents has risen considerably…
In which areas are Toprak and BMW stronger?
I do not know. I dont think about it. This is not the time to make a comparison with our direct rivals, but to focus on what we lack to have the right confidence in the saddle. I struggle when entering corners, I can’t stop the bike in the right way. As a result I lose speed even when accelerating. Let’s think about improving ourselves, before thinking about where we can be stronger than them.
Do you think that in light of the recent results the FIM should review the regulations?
I’m not the FIM, I don’t make the rules. I live it like this: it’s not something decided to put me at a disadvantage, but to balance the championship. Now the bike weighs more and I only have to think about how I can go fast with what I have. This is my priority, the only thought I have for the next races.
