As part of its institutional tasks and in line with the SAFE MOUNTAIN project, the Calabria Alpine and Speleological Rescue – CNSAS has organised, in two different regional mountain areas, the national “Safe on the Path” day, with the aim of promoting raising awareness of the prevention of accidents typical of the summer season in mountain environments.
During the day of Sunday 16 June 2024, technicians and operators from the Aspromonte, Catanzaro, Sila Camigliatello and Sila Lorica Alpine Stations of the CNSAS Calabria were involved.
The technicians of the Alpine Stations Sila Camigliatello, Sila Lorica and Catanzaro were present, on a path in the Sila plateau, with exhibition stands to raise awareness of the activities of the CNSAS, the rescue equipment and to provide all the useful information for attending the mountains safely and to talk about prevention.
The technicians and medical staff of the Aspromonte Alpine Station provided theoretical and practical knowledge on mountain safety and the management of first emergencies.
Also present during the excursion along the Sentiero del Mulino De Salvo, Calamona and Grazia – itinerary, at the Viale delle Mimose Park in the municipality of San Roberto (RC), inaugurated today.
It is precisely during the summer season that the majority of rescue interventions are concentrated and hiking, as always, occupies the top places in the statistics of Alpine Rescue interventions.
Preventive planning of the route based on your psycho-physical condition and adequate basic equipment (particular attention to footwear; have a complete dry change of clothes in your backpack, a rain/windproof jacket, food and especially drinks, a small first aid and a headlamp) are very important precautions.
The technicians of the CNSAS Calabria also informed and recommended the activation of GEORESQ, the FREE APP designed by the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps (CNSAS), promoted by the Italian Alpine Club with the support of the Ministry of Tourism which, during the outdoor activities, allows you to send an alarm directly to the CNSAS Operations Center communicating position and route.
Both events, which were a great success, were able to count on the presence of many mountain enthusiasts.
