The trial of the two 35-year-olds caught stealing a load of biscuits from delivery trucks ended with a 2-year prison sentence each.

Abbreviated procedure for biscuit thieves: 4 years in prison after the attempted theft of 10 thousand euros. Two 35-year-olds from Novara who were arrested by the Carabinieri of the Nucleo Radiomobile while they were unloading pallets of biscuits and other products stolen shortly before from trucks ready for deliveries into their garage were tried with an abbreviated trial, requested by the defense lawyer Fabio Fazio. The loot, which appears to have only been partially recovered, amounted to around 10 thousand euros.
2 year sentence for each defendant
The judge of the Novara court had validated the arrest and ordered them to sign – three times a week – while waiting to reappear in the courtroom for trial. In recent days the sentence, 2 years in prison for each, a higher sentence than that which had been requested by the public prosecutor for the charge of attempted theft. One of the two benefits from conditional suspension, while the other has converted his sentence into community service. The episode occurred in the morning hours of March 4th.
Betrayed by the van’s GPS
That Monday, what betrayed the thieves, as it later emerged, was the GPS of the van they had rented to carry out the theft, which was then not completed) and which had allowed the military to intervene promptly. The vehicles targeted were parked in the Sporting car park, in the working-class neighborhood of Sant’Agabio. The people who called 112 were the managers of the (known) food company to which the products belong. Since the departing truck had had technical problems, they went to carry out checks on the spot and there they saw that the doors were open and a van was moving away at full speed. The company’s management, once they had recovered part of the stolen goods, then found that other pallets were missing, apparently stolen previously by others.
