The event, supported by the Piedmont Region, is organized by Amici di Castelli Aperti, the association that promotes the exhibition of the same name with the opening of over eighty historic homes in the Piedmontese territory from April to October. The 2024 Castelli in Giallo program includes 3 meetings with some of the best representatives of crime fiction in Italy, located in as many historic homes: thethe Quattro Torri Castle of Arignano, the castle of Monastero Bormida and the castle of Foglizzo.

The Festival debuts Friday 21 June at 8.30pm Arignano, in the suggestive Quattro Torri Castle. A still little-known private historic residence, which will welcome Stefano Nazzi, the king of Italian crime news, known to the public above all for being the creator and author of Indagini, at the top of the podcast charts, and of Altri investigations for « the post”. Nazzi will present his latest book Canti di Guerra, published by Mondadori and set in Milan in the Seventies. Here the destinies of the three bandits who will change the fate of the Milanese “underworld” meet for the first time. A dark story of blood, betrayal and deaths but also of partnerships, power and love. Stefano Nazzi reconstructs it with his intense and pressing prose, telling the story of the men behind the criminals and the shadows that made them such, because although over thirty years have passed since the last shot, their war songs still echo today.
Before the free presentation, it will be possible to visit the castle guided by the owners. At the end of the visits a rich aperitif will be served. (visit + aperitif 25 euros).

Castles in Yellow continues Saturday 22 June at Monastero Bormida. The protagonist will be the Turin writer Christian Frascella, who at 7.00 pm, in the rooms of the imposing castle, will present Don’t kill the first one who passes by. Contrera’s scorching summer, fifth episode of the series of his beloved inspector, published by Einaudi. It’s July and in Turin, in the Barriera district of Milan, it’s incredibly hot. Contrera wanders in the heat with nothing to do. His sister gets him a client: his friend Giulia fears that her partner has another woman. It would seem like an easy job, except that during the tailing the man was shot with two gunshots. Despite his braggart appearance, Contrera has a great sense of justice and sets out to investigate a labyrinth of suspicions and false leads, which will lead him to an absurd and unpredictable truth.
Before the free presentation, at 6pm, you can discover the castle of Monastero Bormida through guided tours costing 5 euros. After the meeting with Christian Frascella, at 8.00 pm, there will be an aperitif open to the public costing 15 euros. For those who book the guided tour and aperitif the total cost will be 18 euros.

Sunday 23 June the review will end in Foglizzo, near the Biandrate castle. At 3.00 pm, 4.00 pm and 5.00 pm, the Teatro delle Dieci will propose a traveling show in the rooms of the historic residence, entitled Intrighi, delitti e veleni. A medieval mystery (entry 10 euros). The audience will be involved in solving a murder. At 6.00 pm, the guest of the third and final meeting of the Festival will be Francesca Mautino from Ivrea, who will present her narrative debut Someone I knew. The novel sees the unpredictable protagonist of a mother of impossible triplets, who improvises as an investigator in search of a girl who mysteriously disappeared ten years earlier in Turin, a city that has always hidden her secrets. A modern woman, who struggles to keep her daily life balanced between family, work and feelings, and in whom many women of today will be able to reflect themselves, with lightness and good humor.
