RENEWAL – «The immediate feelings for this renewal are of gratitude, affection and pride. So this renewal is also a merit of yours because you have truly pushed me to love you, to love this place but above all to give my best every Sunday and to make all my teammates give their best. I thank you because it is truly a wonderful gift to be able to live and wake up every morning in Cagliari”.
CAGLIARI AND SARDINIA – «The sense of belonging to Cagliari and Sardinia was born little by little, however it gave me great satisfaction on the pitch but above all in life. Here I became a man and a father and experienced the most important moments of my life. One thing that I have in common with all of you is the love for the land and living everyday life peacefully. Being able to go down to do the shopping and errands with or without your family, passing by and being greeted with a “Hi Leo” or “Hi Pavo”. It’s something that means a lot to me and then when I have a moment of time to be able to go to the seaside, in three minutes, this is the greatest gift a man can have”.
7 YEARS ROSSOBLU’ – «These 7 years have passed quickly but they have been full of successes and also disappointments. I remember very well when I landed at Elmas airport with my first foot as the last great battle of Florence, when we managed to achieve safety. The second year was a beautiful championship full of goals but above all the birth of my first child. Moving on to the third which was my big worry, we had a strong team, the club had spent money buying great players. It was a very exciting championship in the first part but I could only cheer because of the knee injury then Covid… a lot happened, then my return to the pitch after the second cruciate injury. It was more pain than joy but as always it helped me to start again the following year with a lot of energy.”.
PERSONAL REBIRTH – «The year after (my injuries ed.) was that of rebirth, awareness and Pavoletti’s return. This is because everyone thought I was a goner after the two crusaders and instead the fight for salvation was in the most intense and difficult period and I was ready. I had a lot of inner strength because it wasn’t easy, I hadn’t been put in the best conditions to give everything but as a man I had found great strengths within me that I didn’t even know I had.”.
YEAR OF RETROCESSION – «Afterwards there was the disastrous year of relegation, a year in which everything went wrong and everything was wrong on our part first and foremost. We have always assumed our responsibilities but in that year I cannot forget the second birth of my son Brandoo. So in the sporting disappointment of the year there was the immense joy of the second son”.
PROCESS – «There was a growth process which then led us to experience two wonderful years from the promotion from Serie B to the return of our coach Claudio Ranieri. This until we got to this salvation which was like being on a roller coaster for the whole year arriving at the Reggio Emilia match. We celebrated like children”.
LAST SEASON – «If I have to tell you about the past season in three flashes, I will absolutely say the match against Frosinone, I’ll take some credit (he smiles ed.). NEW OBJECTIVES – «The new objectives of these years will be simple and well-defined because Mister Ranieri has followed a beautiful path and we will certainly have to carry forward the principles that he has instilled in us day after day. Each player feels the affection of their fans and their city, which leads to incredible results and comebacks. Only thanks to us but without you it can’t end the way this year ended. DREAM – «My personal secret dream is to pass and make all the Cagliari fans spend two happy years. I would like to do it with great victories but above all with great victories.
