Since yesterday, 15 June, all the fire service units in the province of Agrigento have been at work. After the one hundred and fifty-one forestry personnel, located in the various stations, who entered service in the month of May, yesterday it was the turn of the one hundred and one men. Overall, around 620 units including turret operators and members of the firefighting teams. Helicopter locations confirmed.
It has already arrived in Sambuca several days ago and also in Cammarata yesterday. Ten aircraft were involved in Sicily and four Canadianairs. The activity will continue until 15 October 2024. All the stations from previous years have been confirmed as well as the use of drones in the availability of the Forestry Corps detachments. The checks from above make it possible to promptly verify the beginning of a fire, but also to detect the failure to clean land and private areas with the construction of firebreaks and therefore a possible risk of flames breaking out.
The firefighting services in Sciacca and in a vast nearby area are also intensified as part of closer coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Sciacca thanks to a protocol promoted by the judicial office. Many forces are in place to safeguard the territory, for the respect of the rules and skills of private land owners.
