The Carabinieri of the Perugia Company, during the past night, intensified their territorial control activity in the city and in the Ponte San Giovanni district in particular, carrying out checkpoints along the main arteries. The external projection and the widespread control of the territory is oriented towards the prevention and repression of crimes and the fight against widespread forms of illegality.

Driving with a cell phone and without seat belts, a barrage of fines

The activity allowed over 35 cars and 60 people to be checked, resulting in fines for violations of the highway code, in particular for driving with a mobile phone, a violation which statistics now show to be the leading cause of road accidents. Furthermore, 6 motorists were accused of driving without seat belts.

Young man reported for possession of hashish

During the checks, a 20-year-old of Moroccan origins was found in possession of 3 grams of hashish and reported to the Prefecture of Perugia as a user. The service, aimed at increasing the population’s perception of safety and therefore a constant and immediate presence of the force in the area, involved the use of 7 crews from the city’s Carabinieri stations and the mobile radio.
