Matteo Valentino Colucci (centre in the photo), a young fluid defender who arrived at Crotone from Modena together with the striker Gravante at the beginning of the 1976/1977 Serie C season, still today, after many seasons, his passion for this team remains intact. His incursions along the flank were a thorn in every opponent’s side. In the City of Milone the first championship was enjoyed to a great extent under the technical guidance of Gianni Corelli. An unforgettable season (that of 1976/1977) which saw Crotone fighting on equal terms with Bari for promotion to Serie B. At the time there were no play-offs yet and the team that finished at the top of the table was promoted. The defeat in Bari was penalizing for Crotone due to the referee Redini di Pisa who awarded a penalty to the Apulians for a non-existent handball by the defender Ranzani. A few more championships with Crotone in Serie C2 and then other Italian and even foreign teams took advantage of the performances of defender Colucci. Today he is no longer a footballer but still active in the world of football, being able to take advantage of the experience accumulated over the years on the pitch. He loves to watch young footballers and then recommend them to various teams. There are many clubs that trust him to expand the youth sector and beyond. They also ask him for some advice for players to be used immediately in the first team. Over the years he has never allowed his passion and affection for Crotone to settle and when he can he returns from Sicily where he lives for a few days. The last time he was present at the beginning of the week where he met with the managers of the youth sector and, it would seem, also with the president Gianni Vrenna. The reason for the meeting, in addition to greetings, was certainly a possible collaboration between Crotone and Colucci. If this were to materialize, it would be a positive event to include a figure like the former Pythagorean Matteo Valentino Colucci among Crotone’s technical managers.
