FANO – “I express my solidarity with the local police officers who were attacked in the historic center yesterday”.
Mayor Luca Serfilippi praises the commitment of the four Local Police officers who were kicked and punched yesterday afternoon while blocking a drunk man near the Cathedral who this morning ended up on immediate trial.
“Yesterday afternoon, in the historic centre, a man in the throes of alcohol began to annoy passers-by with a glass bottle in his hand – explains Serfilippi -. Having intervened promptly, the four Local Police officers, trying to block the individual, were peppered with kicks and punches.
I want to express my full solidarity with them for what they had to suffer, reaffirming the importance of the work that is carried out every day by the entire local police force”.
In the next few days Serfilippi intends to “adopt measures to guarantee their safety during their activities. For this reason they must be equipped with tools that enable them to adequately guarantee public safety as well as protect their own safety.
I also thank the commander of the Local Police Anna Rita Montagna for the work done and the commitment made. On my part and on the part of the administration, there is the hope that the attacked officers will be able to return to duty as soon as possible, overcoming what happened.”
