The Parterre will be for everyone: “We await the green light”

A few days after the presentation of the project of a working group formed by the Pistoia associations of people with motor, sensorial and cognitive disabilities, with the related proposal – request for collaboration to break down architectural, sensorial and communication barriers in the public and private sectors, it was a note from the Administration arrived. “After the renovation of the monumental building of the Pantheon we decided – we read – to complete the redevelopment process of the Parterre area, entrusting the engineering company BF Progetti of Pistoia with the development of an executive project which involves the demolition of the architectural barriers of the Parterre and the Pantheon through special mechanical connections, designing a system to overcome the difference in height present with the Porta al Borgo car park and the entrance to the Pantheon. The works for the restoration of the entrance and the gates are also included , of the staircase and of the masonry that supports the embankment, as well as the removal of the old electrical substation located in a corner of the Parterre and a restoration of the section of city walls involved”.

Currently the executive project defined for the architectural part is being examined by the Superintendence of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the metropolitan city of Florence and for the provinces of Pistoia and Prato and once the authorization for the works has been acquired. Once the green light has been received, Palazzo di Giano will be able to proceed with the verification and validation of the overall executive project, complete with the structural and plant engineering documents, and start the procurement procedures to carry out the intervention to remove the architectural barriers. Total expenditure 45,535.18 euros, of which 20,000 financed by the Caript Foundation with the “Let’s design!” call. and the remainder paid by the Municipality. “For our part – writes the Administration, thanking them for the contributions made –, the work on the accessibility of public real estate assets is constantly evolving. Interventions have already been carried out in many school buildings and sports facilities, through demolition works of architectural barriers on toilets, common areas, access paths, inclusive equipment and anti-trauma flooring have been installed in the garden play areas, and paths have been created for their complete accessibility. This commitment also continues for all the buildings recovered with PNRR funds -. conclude –, that they will be made completely accessible.”
