The literature, art and philosophy festival returns to Amelia from 28 to 30 June

AMELIA – The Ciclopica program has been revealed. Giants in the Hills, a literature, art and philosophy festival that will be held from 28 to 30 June in Amelia, Umbria. There are many new features in this eighth edition: one above all, free entry to all the festival’s events (including concerts and performances).

”Ciclopica – explains Giacomo Petrarca, artistic director of the festival – is first and foremost a great party, in which we hope that the greatest number of people can participate every year. We are an independent festival and we are here for our audience and for those who are curious to come and discover the many initiatives planned”.

Among the gems of the 2024 edition, an exceptional location, the sixteenth-century Villa Aspreta: ”We decided to leave the walls and, for one evening, look at Amelia from a perspective that was new to us. It is the first time that the villa has been opened for a similar event and we are certain that it will be an evocative and exciting evening”.

Performing in the Aspreta garden will be Ivan Segreto, one of the most original and transversal contemporary musicians on the Italian scene, who together with his successful pieces, will engage in some reinterpretations of famous pieces of Italian song: Modugno, Battiato and Puccini (Friday June 28th at 9.30pm, free entry).

There were many guests at the conferences and debates: among them the historian Carlo Ginzburg, among the most famous in the world in his field, the philosopher and Greek scholar Maria Michela Sassi, the vice-rector of the University of Pollenzo Michele Antonio Fino, the architect and landscape designer Annalisa Metta, the philosophers Massimo Donà, Florinda Cambria, Marco Moschini and Massimo Adinolfi, the art historian Michele Dantini and many others.

Among the entertainment events of the 2024 edition, worth mentioning is the conference-reading with Massimo De Lorenzo, iconic face of the cult series “Boris”, who will participate together with the actresses Giulia Mombelli and Cristina Pellegrino (Saturday 30 June at 9.30 pm). And then the workshops for the little ones, the exhibitions including that of the artist Emiliano Alfonsi and a video installation curated by Vincenzo Schino of Operabianco which will open the 2024 edition.
