The anticyclone Minos is arriving in Italy

ROME (Adnkronos) – It is the anticyclone Minos is arriving in Italy. In the next few hours, the passage of an Atlantic front across the border, between Switzerland and Germany, will be able to convey unstable air also over the Alps and locally towards the adjacent plains: thunderstorms are expected in the morning over Valle d’Aosta, northern Piedmont and the Rhaetian Alps. Elsewhere, especially in the Centre-South, the sun will prevail.

On Monday 17 June, peaks of 35°C are expected in Puglia and Sicily, 33°C in Campania and Basilicata (Benevento and Matera). But the thermometer will continue to rise, even in the Centre-North. On Tuesday 18th the maximum temperatures will reach up to 38°C in Sicily and Sardinia (but not excluding local peaks of 41°C, such as in Perfugas and Mara in the Sassari area), 36°C in Benevento and Foggia but, for the first time in 2024 , even 34°C in Rome, Florence and Frosinone.

The The first peak of the heat will be reached between Wednesday and Thursday (early summer) with extreme, exceptional values: Benevento and Foggia 40°C, Matera and Potenza (800 meters!) 38°C, Catania will be boiling with 37°C in the shade like Florence, Arezzo, Rome, Terni and Forlì. Locally, on our Major Islands we do not rule out peaks of 42-43°C.
