MASS – A fire broke out mid-morning in a dilapidated structure occupied illegally: inside there were about ten gas cylinders which fortunately did not explode. Viale Roma is semi-blocked to allow firefighters to intervene.

Cloud of smoke in one of the main city arteries of Massa due to a fire that broke out inside a dilapidated structure on Viale Roma. Concern for residents and passers-by due to the strong smell of gas.

The structure, in wood and masonry, is located behind a former armory building abandoned for years, bordering, on its right, the area of the former Sensi Garden and behind it with via Gora. According to some residents, the house has been occupied for some time, albeit not legally, by some people.

According to an initial reconstruction, the current occupants were preparing lunch inside the shed when something went wrong. Suddenly the flames engulfed the entire structure, threatening the neighboring land and homes.

The intervention of the Fire Brigade was therefore necessary and, assisted by the Municipal Police and the State Police, they made the area safe, also managing the rush hour traffic and preparing an alternating one-way traffic on the Avenue. Rome. After a couple of hours of work the firefighters brought the situation back to normal but not without risks.

Inside the shed, in fact, the police found about ten full LPG cylinders, probably used by the occupants for cooking and heating water for washing, and took them outside to safety, averting the worst.
