The 14th edition of the Paolo Deregibus Trophy, better known as “Gibus”, was held on Sunday 9 June in Turin at the Eridano Rowing Society (which turns 160 this year).
Like every year, this year too the Canottieri Casale presented itself at the event with 7 crews, who competed and achieved excellent results.
The first crew to take to the water was the female Allievi C double, with Ada Gianichi and Elisabetta Pellicciari on board, who obtained a silver.
Still medal, but bronze for Aldo Bini and Tiziano Allera, in the men’s Master Doubles, while we can talk about a wooden medal for the crew of the Master mix four sculls (Diana Kuusik, Marie Helene Cully, Roberto Buffa and again Tiziano Allera ), who crossed the finish line in fourth place.
Caterina Pellicciari, in the women’s Under 17 singles, wins the gold medal with a good margin.
Riccardo Allera’s Under 23 race was very spectacular, over 2,000 metres, as he clashed not only with an athlete from Cerea, but also with Alberto Ciavarro (Under 2023 World Championships) and Emilio Pappalettera (winner of the Junior World Championships in 2021, as well as a bronze in Tokyo in 2019), after a very hard-fought race Riccardo came third behind Alberto and Emilio.
«The satisfaction of competing with athletes of the highest level, fighting until the end, is always great», declares Riccardo Allera.
Once the official races were over, on the “standard” distances, we competed with the always appreciated “family” formula, over 750 meters.
Two crews took to the water: the first with Diana and Caterina (mother and daughter) on board, in one final, and Riccardo and Beatrice (brother and sister) in another, but for both crews the same result: medal ‘silver.
In summary, the medal table is made up of 6 medals: one gold, three silver and two bronze.
Two more competitions await the Monferrato players in June: the Italian Senior and Under 19 Championships in Varese and the Italian Master Championships, on Lake Candia Canavese.
In the meantime, the date of Sunday 15 September has been made official for the second edition of the Sprint Regatta on the Casale stretch of the Po river: rowers at the forefront of the organisation.
