the Nuove Proposte, the double competition and the DopoFestival are back

Eight months earlier, Carlo Conti is already ready to tell us what will change in his Sanremo Festival. He did it on Thursday, at Tg1 Morning Summerdiscussing regulations, eliminations and the like with a very interested person (and us with her) Giorgia Cardinaletti. The news concerns the regulations because it is from there that Carlo Conti started to re-establish the event, orphaned by the desaparecitos Amadeus. On the other hand, as the host and artistic director himself explains, the work on the festival “must be organised: the regulations come first, then the attention to the New Proposals, then the Bigs, then it is decided who will be with me. The show part is the last thing, the most important thing is the choice of songs.” Conti will start listening to the songs at the end of August: he will first start from those of Sanremo Giovani, then he will move on to the Big ones of Sanremo. So now it’s too early to name names and titles, even if our man admits that “something has already arrived”, directly on his phone: “if once upon a time they sent a CD, now the audio file arrives via email or WhatsApp message” . It’s impossible to know more about the selection other than that it will focus on “the music that’s popular now”. Which is no small thing.

But let’s get to the regulation: what will change?

The first good news is that, yes, it’s official: we will all go to sleep at human times. Conti explained that he “didn’t have the body” to work at 2am like Amadeus. His Sanremo will close early: apparently around midnight. Consequently “the songs will be fewer but I will restore the Dopofestival”. On Rai Uno the last edition dates back to 2019: the 2020 one, branded Nicola Savino, it was called L’Altro Festival and was on RaiPlay. Then there were Fiorello’s post-Sanremo appointments but which had a completely different structure compared to the classic DopoFestival. According to the Dagospia website, it will be hosted Alessandro Cattelanbut Conti gave no information about it.

Another novelty: we return to the past, that is, to the old distinction between Big and Nuove Proposte. We will therefore have two race circuits, complete with a double podium: “probably the winner of the Nuove Proposte will be announced on the cover evening”, Carlo Conti hypothesizes on Tg1 Mattina Estate. There certainly won’t be any eliminations: they were foreseen in the Conti management but now “they would be anachronistic”, as the presenter himself admits. “The world of music has changed and the choice must be one of responsibility, because maybe you discard a song which will then be a huge success.”

Will there be international guests?

International guests chapter? The most correct answer is: not received. And it’s not a joke. Carlo Conti doesn’t seem to necessarily want them: “Maybe the festival will live with such musical strength that it won’t be necessary to have them.” Cardinaletti, however, doesn’t buy it and insists on having a desire. In the end he wins: “It would be great to start with Clear dawn sung by Vasco Rossi“, admits Conti who then looks into the room and adds: “Vasco, think about it: I don’t want it, Italy wants it.” His close friends certainly won’t be there. Leonardo Pieraccioni And Giorgio Panariello: “It would be too banal”, comments Conti. We’ll know the rest next time… Tg1.
