THE FIRST “GATTOPARCO” DEDICATED TO LEONE IN SALERNO

The city of Salerno also dedicates a protected running area dedicated to domestic cats. It is a feline-friendly garden, more specifically a cat area, modeled on the dog areas already present in some areas of the city. The first city cat park was born near the church of Santa Maria dei Greci in Fratte on the initiative of the Center for Legality of the Galahad social cooperative, chaired by Marilia Parente.

It was named “Gattoparco Leone”, named after the cat who was skinned alive in Angri. Supporting the project, which was presented yesterday afternoon, are the Municipality of Salerno, the Archdiocese of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno and the parish of Santi Felice e Giovanni in Pastorano.

The Cat Park, equipped with ad hoc nets and themed furnishings, including tunnels and games for felines, gives cats moments of adventure in nature, without risks. The area can be accessed free of charge, in scheduled shifts, during experimental openings scheduled for the summer period. The space can be used by domestic cats, regularly vaccinated and sterilised, accompanied by their owners. In the same space, social and cultural initiatives open to the whole community will also be organised.
