#mifidodiandrea Virgilio will renew the municipal council

Choices are made by people and people, all of them, make the difference. The centre-left mayoral candidate Andrea Virgilio intervenes, in no uncertain terms, to clarify what the route will be from now until 23 and 24 June and even beyond the run-off. Controversy aside, the objective is clear, and the time has come to make it explicit: “Being at the helm of a city – he explained – is a life commitment that one makes in front of one’s community, but which cannot be completed alone. We must all do it together, building and nurturing relationships with those who have chosen us and given us the trust to decide the future of this city.

But we must also do it by having a team around us that shares the same vision. From here, as I have already said, I want to open a new season for the city and for the local government: I want to do it with new people and with a new style, mine. I am fortunate to be able to afford new objectives and new priorities also thanks to the work done in recent years, but I also have the courage and determination to immediately state that there will be an overall renewal of the council. We need new experiences, new skills, we need a generational change. I am surprised by the controversies of a mayoral candidate who started out as a civic citizen and who now implores national leaders to descend on Cremona to support him. The risk he runs is that of suffering interference not only from the parties but also from the usual “old glories” of the centre-right. A citizen held hostage in the face of a leadership, mine, which is strong and free. Because this was the premise for my candidacy and this will be the immovable beacon that will guide my choices, my relationship with the city and with the government team in the coming years”.

For Virgil, administering means listening, even to critical issues, and also to those who experience problems in their daily lives. “People, in every context, inside and outside institutions, do what they can, make a difference. And from here on I will do my best to reiterate it.” The ballot is a two-way challenge, which is why it now becomes central to focus everything on the person and ask everyone for support, trust and support. Hence the great mobilization born under the pressure of the hashtag #mifidodiandrea

– which is taking shape in these hours and which will spread virally online and through WhatsApp channels, reaching the center and the suburbs, to underline, in black and white, complete with people’s faces, the new direction.

-#mifidodiandrea dictates the march and marks the pace of these last days before the vote. Decisive moments that Virgilio spent in dialogue with the other mayoral candidates, and which will close in these hours also with the candidate of Communist Alternative, finding convergence on some key themes of the respective programs. Meetings with citizens and voters also mark the agenda, without stopping, to make ourselves available to everyone. Nobody excluded.

“I can say – added Virgilio – that the ten years I have behind me as an administrator will be the starting point for future choices: experience. The view on the city will be oriented towards the future, without forgetting the present, the everyday things that people ask for. I believe that we must be able to fly high, without losing the sense of concrete things.”

Hence, for Virgilio, also the decision not to want catwalks of big national politicians. In support of the final rush, only mayors and local administrators. “It is a moment that requires strength and no one is giving up now: at my side – explained Virgilio – I only want people who have spent themselves every day, head held high, dealing with the real numbers and the few resources that the Municipalities have available, for the good of their citizens. People who, like me, have chosen to lead an administration, accepting the challenge and the significant load that this entails.”

Run-off between Portesani (43.19%) Virgilio (41.94%) will be held on 23 and 24 June
