Important news on the connections and infrastructure front for Abruzzo. The regional councilor Umberto D’Annuntiis announced that the council and the European parliament definitively approve the regulation on the trans-European transport network. This includes strong incentives to promote more sustainable modes of transport, advance digitalisation and improve multimodality, i.e. the combination of various transport modes in a single journey within the European transport system while also addressing the issue of the Ten-t network .

“Abruzzo is finally crossed by the Baltic Adriatic Corridor with the inclusion of the Adriatic backbone (Bologna-Bari) in the Extended Core network with a consequent significant valorisation of these territories. In this regard, the strategic alliance between the Abruzzo, Marche, Molise and Puglia Regions was decisive, which led them to sign an agreement thanks to which a proposal to the Ministry was formulated, with President Marco Marsilio as coordinator. of Infrastructure and sustainable mobility containing the inclusion of the Ancora-Bari section along the Adriatic axis in the Core network. The Italian government must be acknowledged for having supported and made Abruzzo’s proposal credible by investing substantial funds, necessary for the completion of the crucial infrastructure works. Finally there is the prospect of serious, high-capacity and high-speed connections that can allow Abruzzo to equip itself with the necessary connections in the north-south direction. Abruzzo was completely excluded from the European Mobility Corridors but we managed to ensure that this right of ours was recognised. I like to remember that this represents the most significant revision-variation compared to hundreds of proposals received from all over Italy. A sign that a complex and convincing proposal has been produced”
