As part of the planning of the extraordinary joint services, coordinated by the Police Headquarters, 14 patrols of the State Police, Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza and Local Police were employed, in addition to those already ordinarily assigned to control the territory.
With them, a canine unit from the Local Police on Wednesday evening, and one from the Canine Squad of the Bologna Police Headquarters on Thursday afternoon.
The patrols particularly targeted the city quadrant between Piazza Saffi and Via Ravegnana, with widespread checks of the self-mounted and foot patrols which coincided with the debut of the “Forlì Wednesdays”.
Overall, over the two days they were 222 people were checked, of which 70 with criminal or police records, and the patrons of 7 hospitality establishments.
The activity of the local police dog unit allowed a young man to be sanctioned for possession of narcotics; furthermore, the entire area adjacent to Corso Mazzini – subject to reports from residents – was searched thoroughly with the State Police drug-sniffing dog Barack, a 7-year-old German shepherd, with the discovery of blocks of hashish totaling 25.41 grams and a precision scale, hidden in the concrete blocks that serve as support for the fences of the construction site in via Biondini.
The control activity was not limited to the historic centre, but was extended as usual to the area adjacent to the railway station and, yesterday, also to the hamlet of Vecchiazzano, in order to strengthen the prevention device on the occasion of the party for the end of the school year which brought together thousands of kids at Villa Carolina.
Precisely as part of the patrolling of the area, in Via del Tesoro, a 19-year-old was identified and administratively sanctioned for possession of 1.10 grams of hashish.
The services will continue in the coming weeks, based on the planning defined in synergy with the Carabinieri, the Financial Police and the Local Police and with the further use of anti-drug canine units.
