Cremona Sera – Virgilio reassures Grimozzi: the Laboratorio del Cotto will also keep the old headquarters

The complaint by Giulio Grimozzi, founder of the “Laboratorio del cotto” and its soul, on the inadequacy of the transfer of the same to the Frazzi area published by “Cremona sera” (read here) with the risk of closing the activity of the prestigious laboratory which recovers our history and our art of brickwork and terracotta manufacturing, seems to have achieved a first objective after more than two years of requests that fell on deaf ears. With a phone call, the deputy mayor reassured Grimozzi that the current headquarters (in the Anna Frank Middle School) will remain active. This was communicated by Professor Grimozzi himself who sent us this note.

I feel obliged to thank Virgilio, who, having read my heartfelt lament about the fate of the Laboratorio del Cotto, promptly wanted to pay attention to me and cheer me up, assuring me of his attention to the association, with a phone call.

I thank him sincerely for having found, in this moment of tensions and electoral commitments, the time to speak to me and, by suggesting the start of a dialogue, clarify the unclear situation, both to me and to my collaborators, a worrying prospect that from the meetings we had with the operating technical arm of the Administration has generated the belief in the inevitability of an unfortunate transfer of headquarters.

The dialogue we had with Virgilio (in any case our Deputy Mayor) was appropriate and sufficiently clarifying to understand that the current headquarters will remain active for teaching and operational for the members, while the setting up of the portion of the Porta Po furnace could become the headquarters of representation, where it is possible to organize exhibitions, conferences, meetings with the public.
Speaking calmly is useful for clarifying what is not clear, which had not happened, and he did so with correct firmness, but inclined to clarify any misunderstandings that had arisen. I appreciated his initiative to immediately clarify the ambiguous situation, which was certainly not his fault. He will immediately inform the members of the fact so that they too can calm down and be confident.”
