They had passed two days after the arrest. During the first of many visits to Ameglia’s house, the lawyer Stefano Savi told him that if he were the CEO of a company, as a first move he would have had him resign, to better defend himself. Giovanni Toti replied that he didn’t even think about itand that for him what mattered most was finding the ability to work again.
Nothing has changed since then. The defensive line follows the political imprint strongly desired by Toti. Also for this reason, in a measure with an expected outcome, what left the governor most perplexed was his general motivation. This time, the potential danger of repeating the crime refers to regional elections of 2025, moving the time limits set by the arrest order of 7 May by one year. But this presupposes a suspension from the role until that date, therefore a de facto forfeiture from office.

But if Savi can say he is indifferent to the unpublished elements contained in what resembles a new precautionary custody order, perhaps her client cannot say the same. As an expert communications man, he knows well that new protests are new elements intended to be issued in the month that separates it from the judgment at the Court of Review.
