EMILIA-ROMAGNA: New president, Bonaccini, “Let’s decide quickly”

In a few weeks Stefano Bonaccini will leave the presidency of the Emilia-Romagna Region to join the European Parliament. He spoke to our microphones about his latest commitments as governor and also about his succession.

There is less than a month left until Stefano Bonaccini’s farewell. The president will leave the leadership of the region after 10 years to join the European Parliament. However, the tasks are not yet finished for the governor, who in a few days will fly to the United States to represent Emilia-Romagna at the Summer Fancy Food, the great world agri-food fair. Then there will be the Tour de France, which will stop in the region for the first time. Then the departure for Strasbourg, obtained almost by popular acclaim. 390,000 preferences that were the driving force for the success of the Democratic Party in the region, as explained during the interview given to the Teleromagna Talk24 broadcast

“36% and above at the regional level, that’s an incredible rating – explains Bonaccini – We had a very important affirmation and I believe that even the almost 400,000 preferences for the undersigned are a sort of recognition of good governance”

There is one last question to be defined, that of who will be in the Democratic Party to run for his succession: “I don’t look at the identity card, I think that if we decided quickly and in a united manner we could avoid primaries and above all avoid months of competition to be used to explain to the people of Emilia-Romagna what the project is to lead this region in the coming years. In any case, it’s not up to me to decide but I will have my say if asked.
