The “Il Bulbo” restaurant was born in December, a place where every dish tells a story, every bite is a journey. Alessandro Piantedosi and his wife Federica Patania come from London, the city where they met, fell in love and married. After a long period in the capital of Great Britain, they decided to move to Avellino, a city they love and chose to raise their child and open their restaurant.

In the kitchen we find Alessandro, born in 1992, with Irpinia roots and an overwhelming passion for creative cuisine. He has traveled extensively, enriching his gastronomic background from every corner of the world, working in the most renowned restaurants in Australia, then in starred restaurants in London (Nobu London Old Park Lane and Hide), in Thailand, testing Asian, French, Chinese cuisine, Japanese, English and Italian. His mind is a kaleidoscope of flavours, each course on the menu tells of his experiences around the world, also bringing back cultures overseas. Alessandro has technique and harmoniously combines local ingredients with sauces and condiments that speak of countries far from us, defining his cuisine as “modern European”, a mix of cultures that coexist happily.

Next to him is Federica, an expert maître sommelier of Piedmontese origin with an innate ability for pairing. You have structured a wine list that goes hand in hand with the gastronomic offer of the restaurant, with Irpinian wine production, then with references from other sites in Campania, Italy and part of France. Paired with Alessandro they are the portrait of passion for cooking and hospitality.

Inside the restaurant with only 35 seats, the atmosphere is one of pure minimalist elegance: clean and simple furnishings highlight Alessandro Piantedosi’s modern and surprising dishes, where rabbit, beef, bonito, chicken, eggs, broad beans, mushrooms, soy, shiso, yuzu, ponzù make up the courses on the menu with an excellent price/quality ratio (for three courses you spend around 50.00 without wine).

Thus, among the soft lights of Il Bulbo, Alessandro and Federica transform their passions into an unmissable destination for lovers of modern cuisine.
