In Sassari 468 million spent on durable goods (+6.3%)

According to the Findomestic Observatory, the growth of the region is mainly driven by the mobility sector: +26.6% for motor vehicles which places Sardinia in 7th place among the regions. Cagliari is the province where families spend the most, followed by Sassari.

In 2023, over 1 and a half billion euros were spent in Sardinia on durable goods (1 billion and 583 million euros), 5.7% more than in 2022. According to what was found by the Findomestic Observatory (BNP Group) in collaboration with Prometeia, the increase was driven by the mobility sector with a peak of +26.6% in two wheels (42 million euros from 33 in 2022) which is the seventh highest in all of Italy. “In Sardinia – comment Claudio Bardazzi, Manager of the Findomestic Observatory spending increased by 14.6% for used cars (537 million euros) and by 12.7% for new cars (287 million). Household appliances are also growing in 2023 (1.8% to 126 million), while all other items are decreasing. Only the telephony data (-0.5%) is less unfavorable than the Italian average: mobiles lose 1.3% and the reduction in spending on consumer electronics (-30%) and information technology (-9) continues .6%)”.

Family spending on durable goods increased by 5.7% in Sardinia: 15th place in Italy for average per household, i.e. 2,128 euros. At the provincial level, the most sustained growth was in Oristano (+7%), which is also the only province in Sardinia below the 2,000 euro mark per family. The first is Cagliari with 2,381 euros per nucleus. As regards overall spending on durable goods, the increases in the provinces of Southern Sardinia (+4.3%, 304 million) and Nuoro (+3.9%, 194 million) are more limited, while in the other three provinces the variations are between 6.3% and 6.5%.

CAGLIARI IS THE ONLY PROVINCE IN SARDINIA WITH PER CAPITA INCOME ABOVE 20,000 EUROS. Cagliari is the Sardinian province with the highest per capita income in the Region as emerges from the data of the Findomestic Observatory: 23,603 euros per year (+5.2% on 2022), which makes it the only province in the region above the quota 20,000 euros. During 2023, Cagliaritans spent 480 million euros on durable goods, +6.5% compared to the previous year (2,381 euros per family). 102 million euros were spent on new cars, with an increase of 13.8%, while for used ones spending grew by 14.2%, reaching 165 million euros. Motorcycles also saw robust growth of 25.1%, above the national average (+24.7%) with an amount of 15 million euros. In the panorama of household goods, the only growth concerns household appliances: +1.8% to 33 million euros. Losses in furniture are contained, -1.3% to 94 million, and in telephony, -0.1% to 48 million. Purchases in information technology fell more, from 13 to 12 million (-11.4%) and in consumer electronics (from 15 million in 2022 to 10 in ’23, -29.5%).

NUORO LEAD THE SARDINIAN GROWTH IN HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES: +2.5%, 60TH PLACE IN ITALY.

In 2023, 194 million euros were spent on durable goods in Nuoro, +3.9% more than in 2022. According to data from the thirtieth report of the Findomestic Observatory, this is the lowest increase in the region. Growth is double-digit in all segments of the mobility sector: purchases of new cars amount to 25 million euros (+11.5% compared to ’22), 64 million for used cars (+12.5%) and 2 million for motorcycles (+24.9%, still higher than the national average). Also positive is the increase in spending on household appliances, which is the highest of all the other Sardinian provinces: +2.5% (18 million euros) is the record in the region and is slightly lower than the Italian average ( +3%), with Nuoro ranking in 60th place for growth in the sector among the 107 provinces in the country. However, the other items in the domestic sector go against the trend: -29.2% for consumer electronics (5 million euros in 2023), -1% for furniture (57 million), -7.7% for information technology (6 million). No change for telephony (16 million as in 2022).

IN ORISTANO GROWTH IN DURABLES OF +6.4%. TOP PROVINCE FOR NEW AND USED CARS. The growth of +6.4% for overall spending on durable goods is the second in Sardinia, behind only Cagliari. In 2023, Oristano families spent 137 million euros with an average amount per household of 1,994 euros (+7% compared to 2022). According to the Findomestic Observatory, Nuoro recorded the most robust growth in all of Sardinia in new and used cars: the former increased by 17.8%, with a total total of 21 million euros, and the latter by 16.3 %, with an amount of 46 million euros, more than double that of new cars. Two-wheelers also did well, for which 2 million euros were spent (+26.2%, 40th highest growth in Italy). In the world of the home, the sector that drives consumption is furniture with 34 million spent (-0.8%, 496 euros on average per family) followed by telephony with 16 million. Purchases of household appliances were positive by 1.9% (11 million), while those of consumer electronics (-29.8%, 3 million euros) and information technology (-8.5%) were negative. , 4 million).

SASSARI SECOND PROVINCE IN SARDINIA FOR SPENDING ON DURABLE GOODS: 468 MILLION. Each Sassari family spent an average of 2,045 euros on durable goods in the last year (+5.9% compared to 2022), the third highest value in the region. Overall, as highlighted by the Findomestic Observatory, purchases in 2023 reached 468 million (6.3% more than the previous year) with an overall total second only to that of Cagliari. The people of Sassari purchased new cars for 87 million euros (+12.3%), but used cars showed the greatest increase (+15.2%) rising to 167 million euros, the highest overall value in Sardinia. For motor vehicles, however, 16 million euros were spent with +25.1%. In the homes of Sassari, 29.9% fewer resources were used for consumer electronics (11 million), and 7.6% less for information technology (14 million in 2023 compared to 15 in ‘ 22). Less significant drops for telephony (-1.2%, 32 million) and for mobile: -1.5% to 106 million spent. On the contrary, household appliances amounted to 36 million euros of expenditure, with a +2.4% which is second only to the figure for Nuoro.

IN SOUTHERN SARDINIA 304 MILLION IN DURABLES, EIGHTH PROVINCE IN ITALY FOR MOTORCYCLES. Purchases of durable goods in the province of Southern Sardinia grew from 292 million in 2022 to 304 in 2023 (+4.3%) and the average expenditure per family is 2,006 euros (+4.9% compared to the previous year) . According to data from the Findomestic Observatory, whose report is now in its thirtieth edition, the new car market recorded 52 million euros of purchases (+9.8%), a figure lower than the 96 million of used cars which made a jump of 14.7%. Among the mobility sectors, the motor vehicle sector is the sector with the highest growth: +37.1% (6 million), far higher than the national average of +24.7%, is the best figure in Sardinia and is worth eighth place in the ranking among the 107 Italian provinces. In the panorama of household goods, the only expansion, albeit slight, is that of household appliances for which families in Southern Sardinia spent 27 million euros (+0.6%). Purchases of furniture (76 million, -1.7%) and telephones (31 million, -1%) are decreasing, albeit slightly. Double-digit drops, however, for consumer electronics, which drops to 8 million in 2023 with a decline of 31.6%, and for information technology which drops to 9 million euros with a -12.2%.
