Sports Festival, the Velletri Sports Council takes stock

The Sports Festival was celebrated on Saturday 8 June between Piazza Mazzini and Piazza Caduti sul Lavoro. Forty-eight exhibition gazebos, several companies present, various multipurpose pitches and a myriad of activities for the little ones in a day of sharing and light-heartedness strongly desired by the Sports Council in synergy with the Municipal Administration of Velletri and the Department led by Paolo Ferns. The Council for Sport has released some statements to our newspaper to outline an initial assessment of the Festival that has just passed.

“The spirit with which the sports festival was born started right from the basic activity. The Municipal Administration asked us for collaboration to build this day together, giving us organizational responsibility, while they took care of the bureaucratic part. Then we had a meeting with all the companies, and even if not all of them were present we always spoke, we created a WhatsApp group and exchanged a lot of information. The Sports Festival was obviously aimed at all associations, even those not participating in the consultation, which therefore took various steps to involve them. The administration asked us to hold the event in the center of the city, to welcome and inform more people. Not having Piazza Cairoli available, we arranged ourselves in two places, choosing the date of 8 June which saw the greatest number of companies willing to participate”.

“The Consultation”, continues the note, “has set up 48 numbered gazebos, plus a play area where children can try out some peculiarities. The fundamental objective, however, was basic motor activity, usable for any sport, because it invites young people to have a culture of movement, physical activity, experimentation of the body with basic motor patterns. It is thanks to the collaboration of the sports associations, which made the equipment available, that the participants were also able to try various sports specialties, in the presence of many instructors from the various companies. The camp was accessible to everyone, even people with disabilities, because the purpose of the party was sharing, inclusion, being together, approaching physical activities and rewarding everyone. The Festival had both form and content, it’s not true that there wasn’t sport; it involved over twenty instructors, and it was a way to say goodbye and spend time in company compatible with sporting commitments”.

On the accusations of lack of sharing and planning that arrived on social media, the Consulta responded as follows: “this line was shared with the Municipality and with the associations, whose meeting at the Consulta’s headquarters was open to all. Those who attended shared the spirit with us, those who were not there still expressed their favorable opinion. At the meeting we even created two subcommittees, one for the location and one for the organization. We took the measurements, numbered the gazebos, divided the spaces. All in an absolutely voluntary manner on the part of all of us, as inherent in our organization. In conclusion, we want to thank the Administration for the trust placed in us. We’ll meet everyone in September for another event that will take place in a sports facility and which will allow us to present the different sports specialties.”
