The Lombardy Region, signed by the director Bertinotti, clarified the situation of the database in a statement issued two days ago. First of all, to clarify that both the birds entered into the database by the deadline of 30 May, also for the purposes of requesting any bands, and those possibly reported at a later date can be used for hunting purposes in the next hunting season, provided they are equipped with irremovable numbered marks, i.e. current rings.
Even while waiting for the famous bands that the Lombardy Region will have to procure, it is clarified that in the absence of them there is the possibility of using decoys, just as there remains the possibility of ringing young pullets possibly bred with the marks issued by recognized ornithological associations, obviously to be registered on a date following the birth. However, it would be important for the rings for the new pulleys to be made of steel or duralumin, to avoid other complaints from the usual suspects.
This Regional note, while on the one hand reassures us in view of the next hunting season with respect to the possibility of using live decoys, on the other hand makes us think that the Lombardy Region itself is seeing the times for the supply of the bands that hunters have expressly requested with the registration of the requirement in the database.
