The news of the white lines being created in Marina di Modica in front of some private homes has sparked numerous controversies, especially among residents. On the issue we asked the Commander of the Municipal Police of Modica Saro Cannizzaro for further clarification.
“We made these white stripes– explains Commander Cannizzato- in Via Andrea Doria first of all because it is the street closest to the square and we needed to recover spaces for motors and mopeds which, given that the previous parking lots had been eliminated following the construction of the square. It must also be underlined– specifies Cannizzaro – that there have been numerous homes on that street for some time whose owners have never paid for the driveway. For this reason we were forced to create stripes even in front of gates. But- concludes the Commander– when, as is already happening these days, they decide to comply, the white lines will be eliminated and they will be able to enter their car park”
In short, Commander Cannizzaro was clear whoever does not pay for the driveway goes against the law and risks being fined “There isruntil they pay they will be the violators so if they call a policeman because there is an engine that prevents passage, we will be forced to report them especially if the vehicle is parked regularly in the white line”.
Cannizzaro also reiterates that these car parks are for the exclusive use of motors and mopeds while they will not be able to park toy cars. “We created the white herringbone stripes to prevent them from obstructing the road. The places we have recovered are around 25”
