“On June 26th a press conference in Pisa to present unpublished renderings and detailed timing of the new Pisa terminal, so that there can be maximum transparency on the state of the works”. The CEO of Toscana Aeroporti, Roberto Naldi, said this yesterday on the sidelines of the inauguration of the exhibition inside the airport to celebrate and promote the events organized by the Municipality of Pisa on the occasion of June Pisa. New this year, on June 16th the airport will also light up like the buildings on the Lungarno, a “first experiment” obviously done with LED lights for “safety issues”.

Returning to the state of the work, however, Naldi does not reveal too much about what will be presented on June 26th at the conference to be held at the headquarters of the Unione Industriale Pisana and which, as announced, will show not only the timing but also unpublished renderings of the interiors. “The project – explains the managing director – already has all the financing and the works have started, we are completing the procurement phase, the major works will also begin shortly, we are waiting for the authorisations”. Even on the recent controversies, after the bad weather and the rainwater that came out of the roof of the airport, Naldi reassures: “Once the new terminal is finished, the arrivals area will be closed and completely renovated, thus transforming it into the new departures terminal”. Great optimism therefore on the part of the company’s management who also have much to hope for regarding the numbers of the two Tuscan airports “we expect – continues Naldi -, growth for both 2024 and 2025”. Provided that, it is the provocation of the CEO of Toscana Aeroporti “someone doesn’t trip” referring in all probability to the construction of the new Peretola runway. Returning to the exhibition which will continue until June 29th, in addition to the lighting outside the arrivals area, information panels have been installed with captions and photos that tell the history and traditions of June Pisano. Inside the airport, however, visitors will find a display in the baggage claim room which reconstructs some characteristic elements of this celebration, such as wooden shields and historical costumes. “It is our objective – declared the mayor of Pisa, Michele Conti, present at the ribbon cutting together with councilor Filippo Bedini -, to systematize the collaboration between institutions and local realities to enhance the cultural and tourist offer represented by the traditions and from the history of our city”.
