Caltanissetta, Avis delivers a defibrillator to the Police Commissioner Pinuccia Albertina Agnello – il Fatto Nisseno

It is intended to equip a State Police car, with the aim of extending the project to all crews, in order to make Caltanissetta one of the first cardio-protected cities in Sicily.

The President of the local AVIS, Mr. Gaetano Salvatore Giambusso, this morning was received by the Police Commissioner of the province of Caltanissetta Pinuccia Albertina Agnello. On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, proclaimed by the World Health Organization, the association has in fact loaned a defibrillator to the Caltanissetta Police Headquarters intended to equip a first patrol of the State Police with the aim of subsequently extend the project to all State Police vehicles, in order to make Caltanissetta one of the first cardio-protected cities in Sicily. Some Avis volunteers were present at the delivery of the important medical device, accompanied by the Health Director Dr Benedetto Trobia, the Director of the Health Office of the Police Headquarters Dr Salvatore Di Benedetto and the Director of the General Prevention and Public Aid Office Deputy Commissioner Maria Romano. Every year in Italy approximately 70,000 cardiac arrests occur: sudden cardiac arrest Unfortunately it can hit anyone, both adults and children, and everywhere, at work, at home, out on the street. For this reason a defibrillator on a State Police vehicle, available 24 hours a day, can help save lives. In fact, the Avis project envisages the supply of additional defibrillators to the other Police Forces. At the end of the meeting, Police Commissioner Pinuccia Albertina Agnello thanked the volunteers for today’s initiative, also thanking them for the meritorious daily activities they carry out.
