With the long election weekend behind us, now it’s time to venture into summer. Weather permitting. Regardless of what the weather decides to do, the weekend is an excellent opportunity to escape from the daily routine, perhaps doing something new. Here is a series of events selected between Monza and the province that could be right for you.
What to do in Brianza at the weekend: the events of Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June
The Alberto Giove Cup 2024 – from 14th to 16th June:
The International Youth Basketball Tournament under 15, organized by the Monza International Basket Sports Association, returns with the 34th edition.
16 national and international teams will compete over three days at the Palazzetto Forti e Liberi, at the Palafarè in Lissone and at the Palazzetto dello Sport in Villasanta.
For years the tournament has been a prestigious showcase for emerging Italian and foreign talents.
In this edition, in addition to the eight Italian teams, two Canadian teams and one Turkish team will also take to the field as well as the German, Estonian, Montenegrin, Bosnian and Lithuanian teams.
Tomorrow, Saturday 15 June, another event not to be missed: the “Dinner under the stars”, an important solidarity dinner, accompanied by live music, which will be held in the magical atmosphere of the vineyard at the “Accolti e Raccolti” Agriparco . Participating in the dinner means supporting a place of work, meeting and sharing that welcomes everyone, especially the most vulnerable.
On Sunday 16 June there will be space for the Monza Book Fest. A festival now in its tenth edition which offers books and writers in the heart of the center of Monza. Guests take turns on the main stage while around stands of publishing houses, writers’ banquets, workshops, bookshops and cultural associations enrich the event.
The artists will be interviewed on the main stage by journalists and invited to discuss various topics.

What to do in Lissone
This evening, 14 June 2024, at 9.00 pm in Piazza Libertà, an evening of music with the Santa Cecilia Big Band of Meda, directed by maestro Mauro Ciccarese. In case of bad weather the concert will take place inside Palazzo Terragni

Tomorrow, Saturday 15 June 2024, at 11.00 am, the inauguration of the kamishibai exhibition and reading “Books take shape” is scheduled. Appointment at the Library.

The works collected in this exhibition were created by the boys and girls of the LISSONESE ARTISTIC FAMILY who were inspired by the books: “The river in reverse” by Jean-Claude Mourlevat and “Juliet and the tree of thoughts” by Marieanne Musgrove
The exhibition will remain on the ground floor of the Library until the end of June 2024, and can always be visited free of charge during the opening hours of the Library itself
What to do in Vimercate
The inauguration of the exhibition of photographs by Rossella Di Micco will take place on Saturday 16 June at the Sorgente Exhibition Space. The meeting with the artist is scheduled for Sunday at 4pm.
The “International breakfasts” series of meetings starts on Sunday 16 June at the Parco Gussi kiosk. At 10 am we will talk about “The Africa you don’t expect” with Marco Trovato, hosted by Alfredo Somoza, journalist and teacher;
Events in Villasanta
The “LA GHIRINGHELLA PARK FESTIVAL” is scheduled for the weekend, organized by the La Ghiringhella Association with entertainment for children and musical concerts. For timetables and detailed program, consult the poster
Furthermore, from Friday to Sunday the ASD TEAM86 BASKET VILLASANTA Sports Association organizes “COPPA ALBERTO GIOVE”: international under 15 basketball tournament. Basketball matches between regional, national and international youth male teams to promote and publicize team sport and basketball .
The event will be held at the Palazzetto dello Sport.
Finally, on Saturday 15 June the inauguration of the photography exhibition by Pino Liddi and Paolo Perego “A WORLD IN BLACK AND WHITE” which will remain open until Sunday 23 June.
