A defeat that hurts and leaves many regrets, the one in the final against Genoa. There Rome Under 18 did not succeed in bringing home the third consecutive national title which, with merit, was won by Mr. Ruotolo’s boys. After the match, on Dazn’s microphones, the Roma coach analyzed the match Tanrivermis. Among the real topics touched on, there were also some protests against the Competition Judge who led the Scudetto final. Below are his words.
“We played a match together
n two different times. THE
our adversaries
they played better
first half but in the second
we reacted well with many
clear opportunities to score goals even though
we haven’t exploited too much. Then they went 2-0 up after a clear mistake by the referee. There was no such penalty and in these finals you cannot have an impact with these errors because the match was in our hands at that moment. But it’s part of the game to lose a final, the boys have had a great season, always training at a high level despite various difficulties. This is a compact group and I want to congratulate some fantastic players.”
You came second in the preliminary round, where will the boys find the motivation to continue in the coming years after a huge disappointment like this?
“The boys wanted to win this final but things didn’t go the way we wanted. There’s little to say to these boys. They work seriously and this defeat will be part of their growth. But in the finals the episodes count and when you’re down by a goal an error like that on the referee’s part cannot be accepted and all of this complicated the match.”
